We are how we think

Category : Motivation

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.”- Henry Ford. Yes Henry Ford is so right. We behave exactly the way we think. Thinking positive is believing yourself. A positive thinker is a confidant, self reliance man who never gives up and always finds out solution in every problem.

Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba and one of the richest man in the world once said in a interview that he always find opportunity in people’s problem. He explained it beautifully in that interview that he always tries to solve people problem and makes profit out of it. This way his customers get satisfaction and he finds another business idea. What a positive attitude he has, isn’t it??

On the other hand people with negative thoughts become lazy, superstitious and irritative. These kind of people always find a problem in every opportunity. They pollutes their surroundings with negative thoughts. They even can destroy someone confidence and will power with the negative thoughts because they are so sure about what they think, they can easily convince anyone. So it is better to avoid these kind of people.

We should understand ourselves first. We should understand and realize the dream and the life we are expecting to live. We should repaire our thinking power because our brain is the powerful force that drives us. So we always should be thinking positive and should always try to face whatever come in our way to achieve our dream.

Life is short. We are here for few years so we better understand this that if our thinking is harming us then why would we letting it kill us from inside. We are here in this world to live a beautiful life with our near and dear ones. How can we allow our thinking to kill us as well as the people whom we live with.

How to deal with Negative thought :

  • We should always follow successful people. By doing this regularly can eliminate our negative thoughts completely.
  • Always try to be with successful people. They will give you some golden nuggets of becoming successful. You can learn their working ability, decision making, knowledge of that particular field. This way you can develop a positivity in you.
  • When you see anyone speaking any negative thing you must immediately leave the room. Negative thoughts not only harms in your thinking ability but also destroys your willingness to go for a dream.
  • Study and study more. The more you will learn the more knowledge you will gather and this boost your confidence and helps thinking positive about your life.
  • Read Successful people stories. Their struggle, their success. People get inspired only knowing the struggle of a successful man because they somehow relate to that situation.
  • Always make yourself busy. Don’t stay idle. Keeping busy don’t allow negative thought to come to your mind.
  • Keep smiling and have silence. This will have you handle problem with a nice smile and avoid unwanted condition with silence.
  • Meditation helps keeping your brain fresh. It is a very good habit if you can adapt it. If you can meditate at least for 15 minutes and then starts your day you will find a big difference in your approach towards handling your work.
  • Keep yourself fit. A healthy person carries positive attitude. Work out daily.
  • Be you. Believe in yourself and follow your dream.

Remember negative thoughts is a slow poison. It can kill us gradually and by the time we realize it is too late. We should do such thing that young people can follow our step. Only successful people are remembered and followed not others.

Gaining Motivation For Your Projects

Category : Motivation

There are many men and women through the course of history who has left their marks undeniable feats of courage and passion. They were highly motivated and dedicated who showed a lot of courage and determination to achieve what they set out to do in their lives.

Their deeds of courage and dedication have inspired countless generations who always looked up to them for inspiration.

But how did these great men and women inspire themselves to achieve these feats? At the end of the day they were just ordinary human beings much like us; so what is that made the difference between them and us and enabled them to achieve these extraordinary feats?

As Thomas Alva Edison the greatest inventor of the 20th century had once observed, genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Rightly so, motivation which is a key aspect of success, apart from hard work and patience, is something that comes from external factors.

Motivation is the next biggest factor for success in anything that you may do. It is what makes the difference between a man who is successful and one who is a failure in life. With almost all the great men and women that we may have read about in the pages of history there has been at least one incident which later inspired them to succeed. However motivation is different to inspiration. Motivation is something that is the result of external factors whereas inspiration is purely internal.

In an interesting story in the point is the life of Joe Girard, an American who is widely known as the greatest automobile seller the world over. He holds the record for selling the highest number of cars and trucks for period of 12 consecutive years when he was working for a Chevrolet dealer.

That record is yet to be broken. He also holds the distinction for being the only salesman ever to be featured in the Automobile Hall of fame.

Joe Girard lived a miserable life and always grew up always tormented by his father, who probably because of his own failure in life always made it a point to take it out on his younger son. He always told Girard that he will never be able to have success in life.

On the contrary his mother always inspired Joe and gave him confidence. Probably his parents contrasting behavior to him contributed to his tremendous success in later life. He took heart from his mother’s words and wanted to live up to her faith in him.

At the same time he wanted to prove his father that he was wrong about his younger son. Joe grew up in abject poverty and that determined him to start earning for his family at a tender age of Nine first as a shoeshine boy and then as a news carrier. His first success was when he brought home his earnings to his mother. Joe’s story is an inspiring tale of hard work, sheer determination and the urge to make it big in life.

But how does motivation work and makes some one stand out?

Well to state simply motivation is the desire to do something bigger and better by breaking the norms of the society and creating a path which is off the stereotype. People who are motivated are usually path breakers and they create their own rules in life and set their own destiny. They set out to do something bigger and better and thus in the process change all the rules and set new standards.

Take the example of Leonardo Da Vinci the Italian painter, sculptor, and multi faceted genius who is widely considered to be the most multi talented person ever in the history of man. Leonardo undoubtedly was a genius and was ahead of his time in terms of his knowledge, thinking and methodologies to unearth the mysteries that were unknown to man. He often employed methods which appeared strange and crude for his time to find out more about these mysteries. His insatiable thirst for knowledge and all things factual made him think that all the troubles that he is taking in are worth it.

Another great example in point is that of Soichiro Honda the founder of the Honda Motor Company. Soichiro was born to a blacksmith in Hamamatsu in Japan and apprenticed at his father’s bicycle repair workshop. He had no formal education in mechanics, metallurgy or engineering but his father’s inspiration and patronage in all things helped him to later in start one of the best motor companies in the world.

Loss of Motivation can cause an acute fall in the performance level. Sometimes when you are working too hard and trying for success too much you tend to lose motivation. Doing the same thing over and over can also create mental fatigue. Taking time off in such circumstance is best.

It helps bring back the level of motivation and interest to carry on working. This break will also serve you by allowing you to assess your work, the mistakes that you have been doing and what is needed to correct them.

This is almost like a pit-stop. When driving for a few laps you need to change your tire or need a quick refinement, the pit-stop allows you that refinements and repairs and also allows you those vital few seconds where you can take a breadth and return back to the track.

Different people of different approaches to bring the motivation back. Some people prefer taking a break and not thinking about work at all. they prefer to stay away from anything even remotely connected with work, they just need the time off to bring back the focus and the motivation that has been missing.

Overdoing something is never the right approach, no matter how much you like doing it. You are bound to get tired and lose interest in it. It is always advisable to take that vital time off to keep things fresh. Others like a few minutes all by themselves to gather their thoughts and focus back.

Millionaires’ Secret

Category : Wealth

Set your sights on where you’re going. Have a vision. Think big. And remember that everyone has to start at the beginning. Even Warren Buffet had to invest $25 before he could make $25 billion. Set lofty goals, and then begin taking small steps to reach them.

Educate yourself. Read books and magazines. If you don’t know how to do something, research the answer. I’m amazed how much of my financial success is attributable to simply reading personal finance books. Many of them say the same things. Once you’ve read enough of them, the advice begins to be burned on your brain. Remember: knowledge is power.

Passion pays off. Love what you do. When you’re passionate about your work, you care about the consequences. “According to research by Thomas J. Stanley, author of The Millionaire Mind, over 80 percent of millionaires say they never would have been successful if their vocation wasn’t something they cared about.”
Grow your money. Pay yourself first. When you’re living paycheck-to-paycheck, it can be difficult to look beyond your immediate needs. But it’s precisely by doing this that you’ll have the best chance for escaping your circumstances. Squirrel away money for your retirement, or for other investments in cd rates, savings accounts or even money market accounts.

No guts, no glory. Take risks. I’ve often heard that successful people are the biggest failures of all. They’ve failed many times. But they pick themselves back up and try again. Most people never try because they’re afraid of the possible downsides. Successful people don’t worry about the downside — they’re focused on the possible payoff.

The millionaires’ secret trait is: Generosity

Despite stereotypes about greedy, ruthless business people, the truth is successful entrepreneurs always find ways to give.

They give away generous samples of their products. They share their time, energy and success with partners. They give back to their communities. They generously support charities. They reward great employees.

They know that generosity is the smartest way to open up the floodgates of success.

Generosity changes your mindset

Some people swear by the “law of attraction,” and others swear at it. The idea is that if you focus on a particular thing, that thing will magically start to fall out of the sky and land on you. Focus on money and you’ll start attracting money. Focus on garbage and you’ll attract garbage.

The law of attraction does work, but no supernatural forces are required. To find out why,

Opportunities for spectacular success have been moon walking right in front of you for years now. But you weren’t focusing on them. Your attention was riveted by the latest online flame war or celebrity train wreck, or even on the list of reasons you can’t be successful.

It feels like focus can summon good (or bad) things through some kind of magical power, but it isn’t magic at all.

When you cultivate generosity in all its forms, you shift your focus to what the self-help movement calls abundance. You start to see how much great stuff is all around you right now. You start to feel wealthy.

(If you ever find yourself in an anxiety attack over money, give $100 to a charity that helps the desperately poor. It’s an instant fix for cramped ideas about wealth and success.)

Generosity gets you to focus on the fact that there’s actually plenty to go around. Plenty of money, plenty of customers, and plenty of success.

Focus on those things, and poof, opportunities start to “magically” appear. You still have to take action on them, of course. But the path opens right up in front of you.

It seems weird, but it works.

Generosity creates reciprocity

Humans have a deep-seated need to repay generosity.

When you give away exceptional content, most people are hard-wired to want to give you something in return. A great blog can create that feeling, but you’ll trigger it more forcefully when you offer a sample of a paid product.

Ever tried a free sample at the grocery store and then felt like you had to buy the product so you don’t seem like a mooch? That’s reciprocity.

Free samples work just as well online as they do at the grocery store. If you give away a first-rate nibble of your product, not only does the buyer see for herself how good it is, she feels like she owes you.

For digital products, aim to give away a free sample that is demonstrably worth as much as the total asking price of your product. If your sample is clearly worth hundreds of dollars and your customer gets it for free, she’s much more likely to fork out your asking price of $297 for the whole package.

Massively over delivering is one of the keys to success in digital products. Because they’re so cheap to reproduce, you can afford to be generous with your free samples. Make your generosity remarkable.

Generosity creates buzz

When Michael Stelzner announced that he was taking nominations for the ten best writing blogs of 2008, at first I didn’t think much about it. As in years past, I expected Copy Blogger and Men with Pens to take the top positions, and they did.

But I was surprised by a few names that weren’t yet on the nomination list. So I put together a post with links to some of my favorite writing blogs. I also included a request to nominate the writing blog my readers found most valuable, whether it was mine or someone else’s.

My readers jumped into the voting. Some of them voted for me and some for other blogs.

Making that post strengthened my ties to a great community of bloggers. It created good feelings in my readers. It brought attention to a few blogs that belonged on Stelzner’s list but hadn’t been nominated yet. And it let my readers know about some great resources.

As it happens, I ended up getting a spot on the final top-ten list, which was a wonderful bonus. But I got tremendous value from making the post even if I hadn’t made the final cut.

If I had just begged for votes, I would have gotten nothing at all if I hadn’t made the list. By being generous, I made myself a winner no matter what the outcome was.

Because I shaped the post so it was 90% in service to others and 10% in my own interest, the post also got a nice number of re-tweets on Twitter. People love to share news about acts of generosity. Look around and you’ll see that the most talked-about bloggers are also often the most generous.

Even Santa Claus has boundaries

Santa just gives presents to nice children, not naughty ones, right? Now I don’t believe there’s any such thing as an undeserving child, but there are a fair number of adults I could put into that category.

If you’re generous, a few people will take advantage of that generosity. They’ll scrape your free stuff without crediting you, get a refund 20 minutes after they buy (and copy) your paid product, then promptly load it to BitTorrent.

Just like social media and the internet multiply the value of generosity, they also multiply the actions of jerks.

Don’t worry about it.

The benefits you get from generosity will dwarf the few crumbs you’ll lose to selfish people who take unfair advantage. You’ll build 1,000 times more than you lose.

If you know who the bad actors are, put them on your naughty list. Blacklist them and move on.

But be careful not to spend too much time thinking about getting even. That pulls your focus away from your own success. If you want satisfaction over the long run, keep your eyes on your own prize.

And anyway, these people will never see the moon walking success bear in their lifetime. That’s worse punishment than anything you’ll be able to dole out.

About the Author: Sonia Simone is an Associate Editor of Copy blogger and the founder of Remarkable Communication.

First, understand that you no longer want to be just a millionaire. You want to become a multimillionaire.

While you may think a million dollars will give you financial security, it will not. Given the volatility in economies, governments and financial markets around the world, it’s no longer safe to assume a million dollars will provide you and your family with true security. In fact, a Fidelity Investments’ study of millionaires last year found that 42 percent of them don’t feel wealthy and they would need $7.5 million of investable assets to start feeling rich.

This isn’t a how-to on the accumulation of wealth from a lifetime of saving and pinching pennies. This is about generating multi million-dollar wealth and enjoying it during the creation process. To get started, consider these seven secrets of multimillionaires.

No. 1: Decide to Be a Multimillionaire — You first have to decide you want to be a self-made millionaire. I went from nothing—no money, just ideas and a lot of hard work—to create a net worth that probably cannot be destroyed in my lifetime. The first step was making a decision and setting a target. Every day for years, I wrote down this statement: “I am worth over $100,000,000!”

No. 2: Get Rid of Poverty Thinking — There’s no shortage of money on planet Earth, only a shortage of people who think correctly about it. To become a millionaire from scratch, you must end the poverty thinking. I know because I had to. I was raised by a single mother who did everything possible to put three boys through school and make ends meets. Many of the lessons she taught me encouraged a sense of scarcity and fear: “Eat all your food; there are people starving,” “Don’t waste anything,” “Money doesn’t grow on trees.” Real wealth and abundance aren’t created from such thinking.

No. 3: Treat it Like a Duty — Self-made multimillionaires are motivated not just by money, but by a need for the marketplace to validate their contributions. While I have always wanted wealth, I was driven more by my need to contribute consistent with my potential. Multimillionaires don’t lower their targets when things get tough. Rather, they raise expectations for themselves because they see the difference they can make with their families, company, community and charities.

No. 4: Surround Yourself with Multimillionaires — I have been studying wealthy people since I was 10 years old. I read their stories and see what they went through. These are my mentors and teachers who inspire me. You can’t learn how to make money from someone who doesn’t have much. Who says, “Money won’t make you happy”? People without money. Who says, “All rich people are greedy”? People who aren’t rich. Wealthy people don’t talk like that. You need to know what people are doing to create wealth and follow their example: What do they read? How do they invest? What drives them? How do they stay motivated and excited?

No. 5: Work Like a Millionaire — Rich people treat time differently. They buy it, while poor people sell it. The wealthy know time is more valuable than money itself, so they hire people for things they’re not good at or aren’t a productive use of their time, such as household chores. But don’t kid yourself that those who hit it big don’t work hard. Financially successful people are consumed by their hunt for success and work to the point that they feel they are winning and not just working.

No. 6: Shift Focus from Spending to Investing — The rich don’t spend money; they invest. They know the U.S. tax laws favor investing over spending. You buy a house and can’t write it off. The rich, in contrast, buy an apartment building that produces cash flow, appreciates and offers write-offs year after year. You buy cars for comfort and style. The rich buy cars for their company that are deductible because they are used to produce revenue.

No. 7: Create Multiple Flows of Income — The really rich never depend on one flow of income but instead create a number of revenue streams. My first business had been generating a seven-figure income for years when I started investing cash in multifamily real estate. Once my real estate and my consulting business were churning, I went into a third business developing software to help retailers improve the customer experience.

Lastly, you may be surprised to learn that wealthy people wish you were wealthy, too. It’s a mystery to them why others don’t get rich. They know they aren’t special and that wealth is available to anyone who wants to focus and persist. Rich people want others to be rich for two reasons: first, so you can buy their products and services, and second, because they want to hang out with other rich people. Get rich — it’s American.

10 Reasons You’re Not Rich Yet

Category : Wealth

10 Reasons You’re Not Rich Yet

Have you given any thought to the reasons you’re not rich yet? Have you ever wondered how it is that two people with the same background can end up in wildly different places? I know really some smart people from my hometown who didn’t amount to much, financially, and other people of moderate intelligence who seem to be rolling in the dough… why? What keeps holding some of us back?

Here are ten reasons you’re not rich yet, and they all have to do with what’s going on in your head.

1) You’re Coming from a Place of Lack, Not Abundance

One of the classic mistakes that keeps people from moving ahead financially is focusing on everything they *don’t* have. The more you do that, the more you won’t have it—this is a fundamental law of prosperity.

Instead, think about how rich you truly are. Do you have friends who care about you, family that loves you, excellent health, a creative mind, enough money to pay the bills, etc.? Be grateful for them! An attitude of gratitude attracts more good things into your life. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, as they say, and you catch more riches by being grateful for the ones you have rather than by failing to recognize them.

The more you start to be grateful for the things you have, the easier it is to accept the idea of abundance in your life. Focus your mind on the idea that you have abundance financially, emotionally, and spiritually and you’ll begin to attract those things into your life.

2) You Don’t Believe You’re Worth It

What’s your relationship with money—negative? Why?

Focus on believing that you’re wealthy, and imagine what that would feel like.  Some people find it hard to do this thought exercise, because they are so accustomed to feeling poor!

You can shift your thoughts about wealth by doing this: Focus on a project you completed that blew your boss away. Remember the sensation of feeling proud, accomplished and talented. Fixate on those feelings for a few moments, and then imagine feeling that way when you open your checkbook or pull out your wallet.

3) You’re Always Broke

Don’t think of yourself as broke—if you do, the Universe will think that’s what you’re asking for, and that’s what you’ll always get.

Try this: make imaginary checks out to yourself, and for every credit card or person you owe money to, write out the following: “Dear ____, I am clear of debt with you, and I give thanks for the ability to pay this off completely and fully.” Or try writing “I am free of debt” on your bathroom mirror, just to remind you every day where you are headed.

4) You Don’t Take Chances

Rich people go outside their comfort zone—they have to, in order to take risks.

Seek out mentors who have what it is that you want, and rely on their advice to help you navigate smart investments and take worthwhile risks in order to improve your income.

Don’t stay safe in your comfort zone—that will only give you results that you’re used to getting.

5) You Don’t Think Outside the Box

Think for a second about some of the ideas you’ve had, but never followed through on.

It’s possible that you already have a million-dollar idea, but have never tried to make something out of it—possibly because it seemed too hard or it seemed like a lot of work.

Success looks a lot like hard work.  Maybe it’s time to act on that million-dollar idea!

6) You’re a Follower, Not a Leader

Step outside of the pack, and forge your own path (one that has never before been walked on!)

Focus on becoming a pioneer instead of letting someone else lead you through your own life.

When you follow, you’re not being authentically you—when you are true to yourself and do what you love, the money will always follow you!

7) You’re Always Comparing Yourself to Others

No one has your unique gifts, talents, and skills—don’t waste time comparing your road to success with anyone else’s (it’s like comparing apples and oranges).

Focus on your accomplishments along the way—that will help motivate you to continue progressing financially.

8) You’re a Victim

Have you ever caught yourself blaming someone else for your own failures?  (If only my coworker hadn’t gotten that promotion, if only my wife supported me more…)

You’re not rich yet because of your own thoughts and lack of discipline. It’s not anyone else’s fault, so take charge of your own life and make change happen.

Focus on what you can control, and set up a daily plan to accomplish small goals (which can then help you accomplish the big goals!).

9) You Don’t Follow Through with Goals

Losing momentum? Don’t focus on instant gratification, but instead focus on the process of becoming wealthy and rich beyond your imagination.

Set smaller goals that can be met each week, or even each day, that will help you achieve your larger monthly and yearly goals.

10) You Don’t Believe in Yourself

Every single person on this planet has something unique to offer, but not everyone is aware of this truth.  You might have told yourself that other people have what it takes to succeed, but you don’t.  Baloney!

Make a list of everything you’re amazing at, and everything that makes you unique—post it on your fridge and read it at least once a day.  Remind yourself that you are amazing.

As you start to believe in yourself, you’ll take more risks, attract what you love doing, and find money practically dangling in front of your eyes!

A Few Last Words…

If you feel like you just don’t have what it takes to become wealthy, you will never become wealthy. The reasons you’re not rich yet are your worry, anxiety, and fear. Instead, think of yourself as a rich and successful person, and you soon will be.

10 Ways to Attract Money into Your Life

Category : Wealth

10 Ways to Attract Money into Your Life

Almost everyone is looking for more ways to attract money into their lives. If you aren’t as rich as you’d like to be by now, it’s your thoughts’ fault! Your negative thoughts, words, and attitudes have been stopping you from reaching your highest and richest potential. Use the following guide to achieve prosperity that is beyond your wildest imagination!

1) Repair Your Negative Relationship with Money

Everyone has a particular attitude when it comes to money—either positive or negative.

Next time you think about or deal with money, pay attention to the thoughts that come up for you. If they are negative, focus on turning negative thoughts into positive ones… “I will never have enough money,” can become, “I allow money to flow into my life.”

2) Believe That You Are Rich

The whole premise is that if you think rich, you’ll be rich.

I know, that sounds stupid simple, but chances are, if you are reading this, you are far more wealthy than the majority of people on this planet.

Prosperity comes in many forms—love, supportive family and friends, enough money in the bank to do what you’d like, excellent health, etc.

Repeat this: “I am wealthy because…”

3) Give Thanks for Everything That You Have

Appreciation is one of the most powerful thoughts you can have—the more you appreciate, the more the Universe will send back to you.

Make a gratitude list every night before going to bed, and read it first thing in the morning to start your day off right.

As you do, prosperity will come in many different and unexpected ways—improved health, an unexpected increase in pay, long-lost friends coming out of “nowhere,” etc.

The more you recognize your blessings, the easier it is for more to flow into your life.

4) Use These Affirmations to Heighten Your Income

“I am valued by what I do and the contributions I make. I love putting my skills to work, and being paid abundantly for them!”

“Money comes effortlessly to me, and for me.”

“Money is everywhere, and I am grateful for it in my life.”

Pin one up over your desk so you can see it, and repeat it, often.

5) Visualize the Sensation of Freedom That Money Gives You

Few things are more powerful than the feelings you experience about money, and the Universe responds to those feelings, whether they feelings are based in fear or love.

So, don’t let the Universe respond to your fearful thoughts! Instead channel your thoughts into positive ones, thoughts about the good sensations that money brings-freedom, peace, relaxation, etc.

6) Give Some Money Away (and It Will Come Back!)

Nothing tells the Universe “I am prosperous beyond my wildest imaginings” like giving money away—this sends a message that you are able to enjoy everything you have, and help others in need. Doing so is acting out of love, and nothing attracts more money to you than love!

Give something away today—and watch yourself become a magnet for more money! When you give money away, you’ll bring more money into your life to replace the money you gave someone in need.

Even if it’s just an extra dollar on your restaurant tip, giving can make you feel wealthy, and when you feel wealthy, the Universe will start to believe that you are wealthy!

7) Focus on Abundance, Not Lack of Money

Become prosperous by thinking in terms of love, not fear.

Thinking in terms of lack just attracts more lack.

Instead, focus on giving thanks and appreciation for the money you have, and even the money you don’t yet have (but that is coming to you).

8) Ask Yourself Why You Want It

If you aren’t clear on why you want to attract more money, then the Universe won’t be clear about sending you money.

Why do you want money? And how much, exactly do you want? The clearer your thoughts are about this, the more likely the Universe will be to respond.

9) Don’t Just Think… Act!

Money won’t flow into your life without some effort on your part. So what can you do to bring in more money?

Make a list of everything you love doing, and what you can make money doing. Pick one, and start working on it!

10) Write Yourself a Check from the Universe

Write yourself an imaginary check from the Universe. Focus on what amount you would like to receive, and fill out the check as if it’s real.

Place the check somewhere, where you can see it every day (a vision board, etc.).

It worked for Jim Carrey! (And pay close attention to what he says about a sandwich!)

A Few Last Words…

Just like anything else in the world that’s worth having, it takes practice to get there. Money is no exception, and when you can master a positive relationship with money, you can begin to receive an unlimited amount, and from unexpected places! Use these ways to attract money to transform your thoughts about money, and as your thoughts change, so will your paycheck!

Finding Your Authentic Life

Category : Law of attraction

Finding Your Authentic Life

Do you ever feel like a puppet, as if your hands and legs are tied up in what others want you to do, instead of what you want to do? Over your lifetime, you’ll change, transform and evolve. To find happiness and contentment, stay true to yourself by incorporating the following tips and tricks for finding your authentic life.

What Is Living an Authentic Life All About?

Who you are and what you do are not the same thing. Even though the roles we take on in life can feel like who you are–whether you are parent, student, or lawyer–deep down, you are separate from all that. It’s part of you, but it doesn’t define you.

Who you are–your authentic self–is about choices you make. It’s about your wisdom, talents, passions, and those unique things you choose to express.

Living authentically means listening to your intuition, and doing what feels right, no matter what anyone else has to say about it. Choose what makes you feel like you have a sense of freedom—not what is best for your parents, or most acceptable for society.

That doesn’t mean you should abandon what you are–you don’t necessarily need to switch jobs or disown your family to be true to yourself! Finding your authentic life means choosing love over fear, every time you’re faced with a choice, big or small.

What Makes You Come Alive?

What did you love doing as a child? Playing sports, acting in plays or figuring out how to create tall buildings made out of Legos? Whatever you loved doing as a child is most often the deepest desire you truly have, and what you still love to do now.

What traits set you apart from everyone else? Focus on this list, and remind yourself of it every single day—as you do, it will create confidence and a desire to live that life.

Focus on What You Can and Will Do to Make Your Goals Happen

Make a list of all of your goals (big and small), then divide each goal into smaller and smaller tasks. If your calling is, for example, to sell your mural paintings instead of working as a legal secretary, focus on small, actionable steps you can take right now to make that happen. Paint one picture this month. Call a gallery to see whether they are accepting submissions, etc.

There is always something you can be doing. If you feel stuck on your current path and want to take a more honest approach to living your life, focus on a weekly goal. As smaller goals become a reality, set your intention for bigger goals.

Pursue Creative Interests, and Make Them Part of Your Life

Ask yourself: What do I love doing? What makes me feel alive? What activities make me feel energetic, and what activities make me feel a loss of energy and motivation?

Focus on taking up new hobbies—photography, cooking class, a beginner’s class on entrepreneurship, etc. Experiment with new hobbies and find out what excites you!

A Few Last Words …

Your authentic self is like a thumbprint which sets you apart from every other person in the world and defines you, uniquely. Focus on what is important to you and what your passions are in order to continue moving forward in an authentic way.

11 Reasons to Smile Your Way to Success

Did you know that the simple act of smiling can make you more successful? Read on for 11 reasons why …

1. A smile means you’re friendly.

If a stranger approached you, made eye contact, and then broke into a broad smile, you would have a fairly good idea that they were friendly and meant you no harm.

On the flip side, we would find it far more difficult to trust a grumpy, scowling stranger.  Or a grumpy, scowling coworker, for that matter!

2. A smile makes people happy.

When someone treats you to a smile, even a stranger, you usually smile back.  For that moment you both enjoy a flash of positive communication without even saying a word.

When you smile at someone, you have brought a moment of happiness into their lives which–who knows?–could last all day.  And people remember how you make them feel.

3. Smiling is infectious.

When you spend a lot in the company of someone who smiles a lot, you will soon discover that their smile starts to wear off on you.  It is hard not to return a smile; most of us do it at a subliminal level without thinking.

And if you can be the one who make other people smile all the time?  Success is practically guaranteed.

4. Smiling can make you popular.

Which type of people do you prefer? People who scowl and complain or people who smile and say nice things?

The choice is obvious. If you want people to like you, smile more!

5. A smile is usually returned.

When someone smiles back at you it make you feel good inside. You have just made a short but very positive communication and possibly the first step in the process of getting to know or making friends with someone new.

6. Smiling makes you positive and happy inside.

Even if you aren’t happy, the physical act of smiling actually makes you feel happier.  So if you smile more often, you will actually become a happier person.

7. A smile makes you look far more attractive.

You don’t see many celebrities or media personalities that are not smiling.  If you did, it is fairly certain that their popularity would quickly start to drop!

8. Smiling makes you stand out.

Have you noticed that smiling people are usually far more memorable than those that are not? You are 3 times more likely to remember a person that is smiling over one that is wearing a negative or neutral features.

9. Smiling is good for your health.

Smiling can release the stress, worry, and tension that you have built up throughout the day. Long term, developing the smiling habit will be one of the smartest things that you can do to improve most aspects of your life. Health is wealth!

10. The effects of smiling can last for hours.

Smiling puts you in a positive frame of mind. When you are in a positive state, you have far more potential and power to advance and improve your life.

11. Smiling is FREE!

You are never going to run short of smiles, and they don’t cost a thing.

A Few Last Words …

When you weigh up the positive points of smiling, it is a no-brainer decision to smile more often. Keep smiling!

Is a Fear of Success Holding You Back

Category : Personal growth

Is a Fear of Success Holding You Back?

A fear of failure often stands in the way of people achieving their goals, but did you know that people often fail because of a “fear of success”? What?! How can someone be afraid of success?

Fear of failure is fairly easy to spot–it lures people into inertia, and they fail to take any action that might lead to rejection or other negative feedback. The fear of success, on the other hand, is both harder to spot and harder to eradicate.

Think a fear of success might be holding you back? Here are some characteristic behaviors in people who fear success:

  • Studying and trying to implement self-improvement techniques and/or personal development tools, but nothing improves.
  • Settling for less than you feel you deserve or are capable of achieving.
  • Starting new projects full of enthusiasm and optimism, but then losing your motivation and stopping before you complete them.
  • Expecting things to go wrong no matter how well things are going.

Can you identify your own patterns in the any of the above statements?

Overcome Your Fear of Success

The fear of success can make you behave in ways that hold you back. Here are some key behaviors in those who have a fear of success, and some ways to get you back on track!

Are you constantly putting off what needs to be done? Everyone suffers from this inner demon at some point in their lives (although some of us suffer from it more than others!).

Procrastination is a success killer! It’s easy to come up with all sorts of excuses why we *didn’t* make any progress toward our goals–I had to do the laundry, my friend called, it’s the premiere of that show my partner likes–but how can you expect to reach your destination if you don’t take steps towards it?

Make it your mission EVERY DAY to do one thing that takes you closer to your goal. Make a list of all the things you need to accomplish in order to reach your goal.  Then look at your list and break it down into even smaller actions.

For example, say you need to prepare for a road trip.  Your list may look something like this:

– Get car tuned up
– Buy groceries
– Pack clothes
– Plan route

Seems like a straightforward enough list, but each of these items can be broken down even further, to make them easier to accomplish. For example:

– Get car tuned up
1) Find phone number for shop
2) Call shop and make appointment
3) Download and print out coupon
4) Call Jane and ask for a ride while car is in shop

See how much easier it is to act on the second list?

Make a plan, break your plan down, and do at least one thing on the list every day.

Not seeing the forest for the trees!

Sometimes it’s easy to convince yourself that the plan itself is more important than the end goal.  That leads to many missed opportunities to alter your path and reach your goals more quickly! Let go of your ego and allow the Universe to show you a quicker route to your goal. Remain flexible.

Waiting for the perfect timing…

“I can’t start now, I have *insert excuse #893 here*…”

How often have you waited until the timing was perfect before starting something new? We have a tendency to wait until our life is perfectly calm, or until we have every single possible piece of information in place, or until we think we have enough money…

ACTION is the key to the door to success. Any action. In the absence of a clear plan, take action anyway… it will either help you get closer to your goal or not.  If it doesn’t, that’s okay.  Edison said,

I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.

But the key is you’ve got to at least start.

Being a perfectionist

I have a confession to make.  I wanted to start a website like this for YEARS, and kept coming up with all sorts of excuses why it wasn’t ready to go live yet.  Most of my excuses had to do with the design, and the writing… I wanted every little thing to be PERFECT.

And then one day my Aunt Tauna said something that made me realize I wasn’t doing *anything* because of my ridiculous obsession with perfection.  She said,

There is perfect, and there is done, and I prefer done.

Just remember that no matter how good a job is when it’s finished, it can always be improved. I have heard of many actors who can’t watch their own movies because they can find a million things that need to be improved.  The same goes for musicians. Yet, we still enjoy their performances. I think a classic example of this is “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Paul Simon. This song is hauntingly beautiful, yet Mr. Simon doesn’t think it’s good enough!

Stop using perfection as an excuse, or you will rapidly go nowhere.

Seeing only problems

Do you have a tendency to see only problems? I know that sounds like a bad habit, and it can be, but you’re in good company. Einstein himself said,

If I had an hour to solve a problem I’d spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes thinking about solutions.

Next time you catch yourself focusing on a problem, you can keep yourself from getting stuck there by adding one little change to your thought process.

Don’t just stop at noticing there is a problem.  Take it a step further and define the problem thoroughly.  Okay, you’ve identified a problem.  Why is it a problem? Are there multiple aspects to this problem? Is this problem blocking your only way forward, or are there ways around this problem? Is it actually a real problem right now, or is it just a potential problem? etc.

The better you can define your problem, the better the chances that you’ll be able to come up with a solution.

Enjoy the journey

As you work on the items in the above list, make sure to stop and enjoy the journey.  This sounds cliché, I know, but it’s really very important.  One of the key ways to do this is to be grateful for everything you have, everything you’ve accomplished, and everything you have going for you.

By being grateful for your success so far, you start to see it in a positive light, and start to allow more of it into your life.  Eventually, your fear of success will dissipate and you will have moved a long way forward in your personal development!
